Catalyst Conference at U. Waterloo
Are you a grade 11 girl who is curious about engineering? Want to see what university is like? The University of Waterloo is hosting an overnight girls conference in April, designed for grade 11 girls to participate in hands-on workshops, explore the University of Waterloo, meet engineering students, compete in a design competition, and experience life in residence!
This year's three-day conference will be held April 27th to 29th, 2018. Spots are limited to 50 students.
Brandeis University Global Youth Summit on the Future of Medicine
Boston area from June 24 - June 30, 2018
The Global Youth Summit embodies the core aspects of a Brandeis education. Students can expect an intense academic experience, meaningful interaction with faculty, and access to outstanding speakers. Recent keynote speakers have included Dr. George Daley, Co-Director of the Harvard Stem Cell Institute; Dr. Elazer Edelman, Director of the Harvard-MIT Biomedical Engineering Center; Dr. Jeffrey Flier, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Harvard University; Dr. John Lawrence, President of the U.S. Board of Doctors Without Borders; and Dr. Michael Zinner, Chief of Surgery at Brigham & Women's Hospital. Delegates visited top medical schools and hospitals and were able to interact with some of the most accomplished leaders in the field of medicine. Watch a video of a recent Summit delegation. Tuition for the program is $2,980 and it is inclusive of everything except for travel to Brandeis.
Who may apply to the program?
The program is available for qualified high school students who are currently freshmen, sophomores, and juniors and have demonstrated strong academic performance. To be considered for admissions, nominees need to complete an application by the priority deadline of January 25, 2018.
Carleton University Prestige Scholarships
Carleton University offers 24 Prestige Scholarships ranging up to $30,000 in value. Students submitting an application must have an admission average of 90% or better and must have demonstrated leadership roles in their extracurricular activities throughout high school. Completed applications must be received by the university awards office by Thursday, March 1. The application requires a transcript, a list of your extracurricular activities, and the answers to 3 short essays.
A message for UBC applicants
Students who have applied to UBC may note that their application account mentions the need for an “interim official IB Anticipated Grades Form.” Please be reassured that The York School University Counselling Office sends the IBSO transcript to UBC for all our students who applied to UBC. There is no need for concern.
