Highlights

Thank you to all the Grandpals and special guests that came to visit on Friday. The students had a wonderful time.

Students are very excited to be working on their independent book study. They have chosen a chapter book of interest and have been reading and diligently creating mini summaries after each chapter. Students will share their progress at their conferences.

In Art, many of the Grade 2 students have finished creating their puppets and have begun to sketch and paint their sets and solidify the storyline for their puppet shows.

This week in Music, we continued learning a beautiful song, The Sun is Mine, about the importance of nature.  We also sang in a double round with percussion Frere Jacques/Three Blind Mice.

In French, we have been finishing up our centres, one of which included the students practising to read the play along with the teacher. The students will be reading the play, Les trois petits cochons, during Student-led Conferences next week.

Looking Ahead

On Wednesday, April 25th 2018, the Grade 2 students will be seeing Gregg LeRock perform at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga. Gregg LeRock is a musician and educator who performs and writes catchy French songs that the students have been learning in class.

Next week students will be learning about the scientific method through a variety of experiments during this unit. We will be making observations on three different plants, which we are feeding different liquids. Students will explore the importance of a hypothesis and collecting data to prove their hypothesis!

We will be continue to develop and practise algorithms in math to find sums and differences using two-digit numbers. Children will be looking at how they can use appropriate mathematical terms to communicate their ideas.
