Grade 2 - September 28 / 2018

Students had such a great time at Ninjaz’s. Thanks to the parent volunteers who joined us.

The Grade 2s are looking forward to an exciting week ahead thanks to our wonderful parent volunteers who continually help enrich the children’s educational experiences. On Tuesday we will welcome Alice’s dad into the classroom to speak about the the circulatory system and use stethoscopes to listen to each other’s heartbeat. Then on Thursday, Brooklyn’s mom will be running a yoga session with the children, which we are sure everyone will enjoy.

We have now begun our new math unit on number relationships. We will be exploring a variety of strategies to quickly recall addition and subtraction facts. We will be building our knowledge of repeated addition to help us build strategies to aid with problem solving skills.

Mr. Rand and Ms. Kendra have now begun posting pictures to document your child’s learning in school using Seesaw. We will be sharing the link soon in the Flash. Stay tuned!

In PHE class we finished off our team building unit. We all learned to be part of team, to be a good communicator, listener, problem solver, to encourage each other and have fun.

In French, the students were introduced to their new play, Ou est mon chien? (Where is my dog?). It is a play about a little girl, called Marie, who cannot find her dog. The students have also been learning the words to O Canada, in French.

O Canada!

This week in Art, the Grade 2s looked at the proportion of the human body. They used mannequins to practise drawing what they see. They then used shapes to create a person in oil pastel.

In Music, we have been practising a song about turkeys and another song about peace. We continue to review rhythms through call and response exercises and rhythm games.
