Thank you to all the parents that joined us for Student-led conferences. Your child thoroughly enjoyed sharing their learning with you.
The children had a wonderful time at the Toronto Zoo. This trip was a kick off to our new unit on protecting animals, which we will introduce next week. Students will be inquiring into ways humans protect animals and the environments in which they live. Next week students will be exploring the ways in which humans have impacted air and water, and how this relates to and affects different animal’s habitats.
In Math, students will wrap up exploring measurement with a focus on perimeter and area. Students will be investigating the perimeter and area of various objects around the school through hands-on activities. In this unit, students have learned all about perimeter, area, centimetres, metres and how and when to use them.
In French, this week, the students prepared for Student-led conferences and what they have presented to the parents attending this event.
In Music, the Grade 2s are practicing three beat rhythmic patterns with a partner on the lummi sticks. They brought lots of energy and focus and performed with enthusiasm at Grandpal’s Day last Friday! Thank you Grade 2s!
In PHE, the students work hard preparing for the student-led-conferences. Over the next few weeks weather permitting we will be starting our track and field unit.
This week in Art, we prepared for the Junior School Art Show! We hope that you enjoyed viewing and learning all about our creative masterpieces!
A gentle reminder that all student absences should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
As well, if your child arrives late, please have them sign in with Ms. Kate or reception.
Next week we will continue to explore ways in which we can help the environment and the impact of our choices. We will look at plastic consumptions and simple changes we can make in our lives to help our earth.
We will continue to work on our Independent book study. Students have been working diligently reading and creating chapter summaries. They are excited to share this with you during their Student-led conferences .
