Grade 3 - January 18 / 2019

In Math this week, we looked at the attributes of 2D shapes. We discussed such attributes as: parallel lines, number of sides and types of angels.

We continued our exploration of different cultural Cinderella tales with specific focus on the values and beliefs reflected in them. We are asking the children to bring in one cultural artifact that represents their culture. We will discuss why this object is special and how it represents their culture. Please do not send anything that is too precious or priceless in terms of sentimental value.

We have also been working on goal setting for the new term and how we can demonstrate a growth mindset in trying new things and persevering when we are faced with challenges. Look forward to learning more at Student-Centred conferences.

This week in Art, the Grade 3s began learning about aerial view or bird's-eye-view. They looked at photography of cities from around the world from above. Students then picked their favourite room in their house and drew all of the details from a bird’s-eye-view. They used thick and thin markers and then painted their piece using watercolour paint.

In French, on Wednesday, Feb. 6th 2019, Grade 1, 2 and 3 students will see Gregg LeRock in concert. He is an educator and a musician who performs for children in French. Please follow the link below to see the Venturing Out form for this field trip.
