G3 Homeroom News
This week in math, we explored the concept of division. We began by relating what we already know about multiplication to division. We also made connections to sharing equally and how sometimes there’s leftovers (remainders).
In guided reading, the students continued their research into one of the three Ontario landform regions. Specifically, we researched how the land is used based on its landform features and also to meet the needs of the people living there.
The children also loved browsing and buying at the book fair, so thank you for your support and encouragement of reading! A big kudos to Ms. Spencer for hosting the book fair!
A kind reminder regarding end-of-day pick-up changes: We understand that during the course of a day, there may be changes to your child’s pick up (who is picking up and when). Please know that if you are sending an e-mail to Ms. Cummings or Ms. Newell at the end of the day regarding dismissal, your e-mail may not be read until after dismissal. So, if there is a last-minute change, please call the school or your child’s homeroom teacher directly. Thank you!
In PHE, this week the Grade 3 students as part of the net and wall games unit have enjoyed playing Newcomb Ball. This is a throwing and catching version of regular volleyball. This games allows the students to experience success early, and it gives them a chance to learn player positioning, strategies, teamwork and many of the rules on volleyball.
In Grade 3 during our entry routine, we are learning about animals (3A) and food (3B) vocabulary. At home you can start to develop this vocabulary with your kids by looking up words as they occur in our daily lives. WordReference or a English to French dictionary is your most reliable source for unknown vocabulary. http://www.wordreference.com/

Students in those two houses can wear red and yellow accessories with their regular uniform.
The art department is in need of some new collage materials. If you have any magazines or picture books you are looking to recycle, please send them to school with your child as an art room donation. Thank you in advance for your ongoing support!
