We were so delighted to come back to school this week. It was so nice to see our students and to hear about their adventures over the March Break. It is so hard to believe that we are already at this point in the school year. The time has flown by!
A gentle reminder that all student absences should be emailed to email@example.com
As well, if your child arrives late, please have them sign in with Ms. Kate or reception.
We began a new Unit of inquiry this week. It is a unit that centres around children’s rights.
The central idea is: The rights of children need to be respected and protected.
Specifically, we will be inquiring into the following ideas:
The rights of children around the world
Organizations that support the rights of children
Our responsibility for protecting children’s rights
We will continue to investigate the concept of probability through games this week. Our next math focuses on measurement. We will focus on linear measurement, including perimeter and area.
Encouraging the language at home
This week students engaged in guided interactions about things they did over the March Break (Les Vacances de Printemps.) At home, you can start to develop vocabulary on different activities with your kids by looking up words as they occur in our daily lives. WordReference or an English to French dictionary is your most reliable source for unknown vocabulary. http://www.wordreference.com/
Comment y aller
Students can log in to the AIM Portal at home. They are encouraged to practice their plays “Comment y aller” and listen to French music.
How to login:
User name: first initial, complete last name and the last two digits of the graduation year.
Ex. John Smith = jsmith28
Next week, students will continue practicing their plays.
In PHE, the grade 3’s, have started hockey as part of the invasion unit. We reviewed the correct grip, ready position and stickhandling technique. Over the next couple of weeks we will be working on our passing, receiving, offensive and defensive skills.
In Art class, the students are finishing a 3D model that exemplifies a Canadian land region they have inquired into during Unit of inquiry.
We have distributed Scholastic this week and will be collecting orders until April 2, 2019.
Our next contest date will be taking place Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 8:30 AM in the cafeteria. Students will be reminded to bring Chromebooks to the cafeteria for the contest. The next interactive question will be the two weeks prior to the contest.
