We hope you have a happy and rejuvenating March break!
A gentle reminder that all student absences should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
As well, if your child arrives late, please have them sign in with Ms. Kate or reception.
Looking ahead to after March break, each student will select an artifact to construct at home. Students are not required to work on this over the break, but may begin to brainstorm ideas. We wanted to give you a heads-up, because the students are very excited about this project. Please note - we will select a due date after the break.
The artifact does not need to be life-sized. It can be a miniature replica.
You may use any material, tools, or objects (plasticine, LEGO, etc).
If you have any questions, please email your teacher and we would be happy to assist.
Ideas from the previous years include:
Egypt - Canopic Jar
China - Coins
Rome - Gladiator Shield
Greece - Clothing
Egypt - Mummies
Mayan - Calendar
China - Wall of China
Egypt - Jewellery, Head pieces
The options are endless!
Congratulations to students on their fantastic performance of We Will Rock You! What a great way to open our winter celebration assembly. On Tuesday, March 26th, students will experience a great workshop at school on the concept of sound and help build a pipe organ in the classroom. Students are welcome to bring their favourite piano piece and play them on this instrument.
In PHE this week students consolidated their learning about nutrients in food by exploring which nutrients are found in specific foods. To finish up, we discussed how it can be difficult to make these healthy food choices when you have a busy schedule and or travelling. The students worked in groups to come up with healthy food choices at school, a community centre, convenience store, food court, restaurant, and summer camp. Students have also been enjoying their basketball unit, which we will continue when we return from the break. Lastly, a reminder that students must be prepared with their gym uniform and athletic shoes at every PHE class.
Have a great March Break!
Our next contest date will be taking place Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 8:30 AM in the cafeteria. Students will be reminded to bring Chromebooks to the cafeteria for the contest. The next interactive question will be the two weeks prior to the contest.
