Grade 5 - November 17 / 2017

We have completed our Patterning unit in math, and have finished up our summative project for our unit, Where We Are In Place And Time. The students have been working hard on creating a crest or flag they would carry with them as an explorer. Using what they know of themselves, their crest or flag is a symbol that would identify them as an explorer. In order to continue with the patterning exploration, encourage your child to look around your house and the great outdoors and see where patterns exist in everyday life.

French Practice for Students: re-tell the story in the French language.

In French, we began a new story. Students are encouraged to re-tell the story en français using the link of the silent video which can be found here.

Our next unit, How The World Works, will focus on bridges, structures and the environmental forces affecting design. Students will be learning about bridges and using their knowledge to build a variety of bridges in class. We will use not only knowledge of shapes and geometry but also the many elements of design. If there are any paper towel rolls, toilet paper rolls, egg cartons, dowling, popsicle sticks around the house, please bring them in as we will be building in December.
