WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS

Have a super long weekend!

The Grade 5s created a very moving Remembrance Day assembly. We encourage the students to reflect on the importance of recognizing our war veterans and remembering our wounded soldiers from the Invictus Games.

We have begun our patterning unit in math. This unit will fly by quickly with a unit assessment on Friday, November 17th. We will send a review next Wednesday for the students to work on at home. As well, homework has been assigned for students to practise on IXL; section P1-P9.

The students are also working on their final unit assessment in Where We Are In Place And Time. They will be creating a flag or crest that uses symbols to represent themselves as an explorer. Think about how you show your open-mindedness over the weekend.

Problem-Solving-Wheel-Outdoor.jpg

The focus of our PSE classes this month have been about making choices at recess that will help to de-escalate problems (or make them smaller). The students have been working with the Problem Solving Wheel as a tool for making responsible choices. The students have also had the opportunity to redesign the Problem Solving Wheel and have contributed excellent ideas for strategies that could be added to a redesigned wheel. Please ask them about their contributions!

Aramark will be speaking with our Grade 5 students on making healthy choices on November 15. We're also looking for a Chair for our Nutrition Committee!
