The first week of gratitude journaling was a great success. The students enjoyed sharing with the class some of their thoughts.

We are also well into our Unit, How We Organize Ourselves. We hope that the “Dinner Discussions” around different systems of government are as lively at home as they are in class. This upcoming week we will be focusing on our government and how we organize ourselves in Canada.

Math: Number sense and numeration is on everyone’s mind and we will be practicing adding and subtracting as well as getting into multiplication skills soon.

Art: he Grade 5 students are off to a great start in art class! For an upcoming art piece, we need wire coat hangers. If you have coat hangers to donate, please send them to school with your child and they can deliver them to the art room. I am also collecting large size button up dress shirts to be used as painting smocks in our art studio. This is a great way to repurpose unwanted clothing. As always, thank you so much for your support.

French: The Grade 5 students are having lots of fun in French class engaging in an interactive storytelling experience. Their creative contributions and enthusiasm are making for a very positive start to the year. The 5s can look forward to many more wacky and engaging stories that will help them acquire the French language.

Traffic: Please respect the rules of the road at drop off and pick up and follow proper York School procedures to ensure everyone’s safety.

Environment Club: Students in Grade 4 & 5 were invited to join the Environment Club starting on Monday, September 18th and ending on Monday, December 18th, 2017 at lunch between 12:15 to 1:00 p.m. The group will be lead by Ms. Emer and Mme Almeida. The students will be encouraged to inquire about the problems that plague our planet and be activists who will try to improve the school and its sustainability.
