The Grade 5s started their final project this week “How might we design a realistic plan for the three levels of government to prepare for an important Canadian issue?”
Some of the issues we are investigating are how Toronto/Ontario/Canada would deal with a natural disaster, a large sporting event such as the Olympics or immigration. It has sparked some very interesting conversations. We hope the conversations have been just as stimulating at home.
In math, students have started to explore the various strategies that they can use to figure out a double digit by double digit multiplication question. We have come up with more than 3 strategies, what strategies do you know? Encourage your child to keep practising those multiplication tables!
We shared some of our gratitude journals after Thanksgiving and we all noticed how lucky we are. The whole Grade 5 group said thank you to each other and that they enjoyed the process of writing in their journals and sharing later on in class.
We continue to read the book Bootleg and discussing what it would be like to live in such a city! No chocolate!? Impossible!
In French, the students continued to reinforce the vocabulary from our story about Will Ferrell through two online activities.
