Genius Hour has started!! We are so looking forward to learning about the environment over the next 2 weeks. We have topics around energy and where it comes from, the great barrier reef and how to keep it safe, pollution, single-use plastics, the oceans… the list goes on. Continue to discuss your topics at home and explore current events. Is there something happening right now in the world that we should know about?
After an amazing Author visit on Tuesday, we have been inspired continue to draft, edit and revise our writing. We still work on writing for at least 10 minutes a day, practicing getting ideas on to the page and building our stamina.
The final lit circle projects have been handed out and can be found in the “Life in Grade 5” workspace. The final presentations will be on the 6th, 7th and 8th of March. Remember to read read and read! Have some fun!
A fractions exploration continues as we explore ordering and comparing fractions. We have been working on equivalency as well as where fractions are found in daily life.
This week in PHE, we completed our target games unit. We finished the unit up with learning how to play Spikeball and using skills such as hand-eye coordination and agility. Next week we will beginning our unit on badminton and tennis.
Congratulations to the students who participated in the CISMF Junior Choir rehearsal at St Andrew’s College. Tickets went on sale on Tuesday, so I hope you all managed to purchase your two tickets for the concert on April 7th. There will be more seats released once choral numbers are confirmed, so I will let you know when more tickets are available. The next rehearsal off-site will be on April 5th. Next week we begin the CIS Winter Classic Rhythm Rocks contest online. Students are ready and excited!
Students are strongly encouraged to sign into the AIM Portal at home to practice their lines for the upcoming filming of our play “Le Bistro des animaux.”

Our next sessions for the Athlete Institute will be for High Performance basketball led by NBA and International Shooting/Skills Development Coach, David Nurse.
