JK - April 27 / 2018

Ms. Maria and Mrs. Meg are so proud of the JK students for doing such an amazing job sharing their knowledge and skills during Student-led conferences. It was a real treat to see the students take charge of their learning in such a way.

As the end of the school year quickly approaches the calendar tends to get busy at school and at home. Please make sure to check the important dates, both in the JK section of the Friday Flash as well on the main page.

Highlights

We have planted many seeds and the children have been so excited to witness the growth each day. The children are learning quickly about the needs of plants through our bean science experiments, and are so eager to water their plants daily. This week we discussed roots and how they work. We also talked about the many types of roots we eat almost on a daily basis. We had fun exploring, beets and carrots at the science table.

The children have been busy continuing to measure many items around the room and working with a variety of measuring exercises at centres. We have started to measure the heights of our growing plants.

In French, the students practised the song, “Savez-vous planter des choux?”, a song that they will perform at Student-led conferences.  Please watch video for the song, "Savez-vous planter des choux?"

JK Learning Celebrations

Both JK classes will be showing off what they have learned during this last Unit of Inquiry to their parents on Thursday May 31st at 9:15 AM. The Learning Celebration will take place in the cafeteria so please be sure to book that time off. You will not want to miss this!

In Music, the JKs explored the space around them and movement as they reacted to the sounds of the drum. We started to learn songs about plants and how they grow.
