JK - May 10 / 2019

The JKs had a great time at the farm. Thank you to the parents that helped us out and made the trip safe and enjoyable.

This week we took a closer look at leaves. We learned new vocabulary such as; blade, tip, vein, and margin. We drew leaves and labelled parts of a leaf. We had a discussion about leaves we can and cannot eat. We tasted some leaves such as spinach and basil.

The children have been busy measuring our classroom plants as they grow taller. This week we measured how tall we are and we are growing like weeds! We also continued to measure many different objects in our environment using standard and non-standard measurement.

The students have been filmed performing the play, Petit poussin, this week. The video of the play will be shared in the near future in a subsequent edition of the Flash.

The JKs played the glockenspiels to sound like raindrops as we learned the song Little April Showers. The students also practiced the song Spring Magic about the magic that happens from a seed to a flower.

the students continued to work on their short rope skipping skills and were introduced to long rope skipping. They enjoyed playing the skipping rope game, helicopter.

The JKs shared their knowledge of plants. Using this knowledge, they began to create a backdrop for their Learning Celebration. They painted large planter pots, leaves, petals, and stems.
