The Middle School homeroom programme is focused on supporting students’ well being. This well being is grounded in social and emotional learning which deals with the following areas shown:
Students acquire these skills over time through the following:
- homeroom sessions with the HR teacher which start and end each day to help students organize their school responsibilities and materials
- class meetings and discussions facilitated by the homeroom (HR) teacher
- Senior School Mentors meeting regularly with students in homeroom
- SEL mini-modules taught by the Counsellor
It is often not a smooth path for students given the enormous changes they face physically, emotionally and socially. However, we believe that the people, programmes and practices at the Middle School support our students through this period of growth to become more confident learners and prepared for the next phase of their growth.
If you are seeing challenges at home with regard to the above areas, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s HR teacher for consultation.
Thank you to the YPA
The learning environment needs to be fun for learning to happen. Thank you to the YPA for decorating the school with Halloween decorations and organizing the first Middle School social event of the year - a movie date with ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.
