Grade 6 Rocket Designs

The grade 6s have been hard at work with the Design Cycle: investigate, plan, create, and evaluate as they applied it to their bottle rocket designs and launches last week at the Rosehill Reservoir. The Design Cycle is a process of thinking that will hopefully transfer to problem solving. Here is a highlight video of the project.

Vicki Grant Author Visit

This week, Grade 7 students met with Vicki Grant, the Canadian author of fourteen critically acclaimed and award-winning novels. Vicki spoke about her new novels 36 Questions That Changed My Mind About You and Chameleon. To the delight of the group, she read aloud selections of the books and students asked meaningful questions about the writing process.  We have many budding writers on our hands - perhaps, there's a future Giller Prize winner at The York School?!
