Summer Uniform begins April 30 (after Challenge Week)
A reminder that summer uniform is an option for students and begins when students return from Challenge week. Winter uniform is welcome all year.
The summer uniform is comprised of the following:
Arts Celebration Showcase
Congratulations to our student artists who displayed their musical, theatrical and visual art talent last night. Kudos to our student emcees, Colin and Aishoo, for their leadership in steering the many transitions of the evening and moving the show forward.
Special thanks to the Arts faculty: Fabio Biagiarelli, Diane Drysdale, Cody McFarlane, Jason Shulha and Anna Bouzina for nurturing student engagement of the arts.
Challenge Week 2018 “Experience Teaches”
Challenge Week is an embodiment our school’s motto and commitment to experiential learning! Next week, Challenge Week trips will take our Grade 6-10 students and teachers across Canada and North America. Parents can follow the adventures of the Challenge Week trips on Twitter using the hashtag #yorkcw Check in next week for student highlights and photos.
Please take note that students will have limited access to their phones. Being away from mom and dad is an opportunity to develop the skills to be independent and responsible. A much needed characteristic for development. Messaging your child regularly or at all takes away from the opportunity. Consider no news is good news.
Innovative Educator Spotlight
The Future Design School spotlight on Diana Rowell. Congratulations to our Grade 8 Math and Science teacher for being showcased for her work with the Design Club and winning first place at a CIS Design competition. Amazing!

Summer Imaging over Challenge Week!
Instead of bringing in your child’s computer for reimaging in the summer, you can instead bring the computer in during Challenge Week. Your child or you may drop it off on the Friday before Challenge Week or any day during that week. We have about a one day turnaround time. See below for the fine details.
- Drop off your laptop on Friday April 27th after school or anytime during Challenge Week
- Grade 11’s can drop it off and pick it up the same day
- No cords, no cases, just the laptop. (make sure your name tag is still on it or add a piece of tape with your name)
- We will NOT wipe your machine, but back it up just in case. Check that Google Cloud sync is really working.
