Middle School - September 29 / 2017

Dear Parents,

Part of the school’s Strategic Plan is to support the whole child and create co-curricular programming. This past Tuesday, September 19, a club fair was held for students to hear about the co-curricular offerings at lunch or after school. The Fall Co-Curricular schedule can be found here.

In addition, we will be asking students to complete a survey in homeroom to declare their interest in joining various co-curricular programmes and to list activities out of school. This data is used to ensure students are involved in the school community. That being said, we also recognize that balance is an important aspect of healthy development. While the school will not limit student involvement in activities, we do recommend families ensure there is sufficient play time, down time and family time for students. Playtime, Downtime and Family times (PDF) is an acronym created by Stanford professor, Dr. Denise Pope who writes extensively about redefining what it means to be successful. You can read more about her ideas
here: http://www.challengesuccess.org/about/.

Wishing our students an abundance of play, down and family time this weekend.

Sincerely,

Helen Gin
Middle School Principal
