Students in grade 6-8 are offered opportunities to further develop their independence and responsibility by having a lunch out with friends. Lunch out is optional and students are required to abide by the following rules; go with at least one friend, select a restaurant that is on Yonge Street, north of the school to Heath Street. Select a restaurant that can allow students to order, eat and return to school on time. This is typically fast food restaurants. Students are not permitted to go to restaurants south of the school i.e. Dominos or on St. Clair Ave. Students returning late from lunch out will be marked late and possible future priviledges revoked.

The schedule of lunch out will be in the YorkNet calendar and listed below.

Grade 8s - every Friday
Grade 7s - every month
Grade 6s - once per term

WINTER UNIFORM - Tuesday, October 9, 2018

We value the wearing the uniform as a visible symbol of a student’s commitment to the school. We’re also redoubling our efforts to be clear about when and where the uniform is to be worn. The exceptions to this will be casual spirit days.

We are supporting students in a number of ways:

  1. All staff have committed to reminding students of their responsibility with respect to the uniform,

  2. Where a student does not have the proper uniform item they will be sent to the Middle School office to borrow a replacement part (i.e. tie), which they must return by day’s end

  3. Where a student returns to school the day following their borrowing an item and they have forgotten the item again, they will rent the item again and their parents notified.

  4. Where a student is wearing a non-uniform piece of clothing (e.g, baseball cap, hoodie) they will be asked to put it in their locker and they may have the item confiscated for the day (or longer if repeated)

We encourage parents to support us in our efforts by checking to make sure your child’s uniform fits properly, is clean and in good repair. We’d also like your help in reinforcing the message that what we wear and how we wear it can contribute to our forming a positive and respectful community.

Our winter uniform starts on Tuesday, October 9. Please click on ›› to review the uniform requirements.
