PARENT GARAGE ACCESS AT 1320 YONGE
For purposes of security, safety, and convenience, we have installed keypad garage access for parents coming to the school to collect their children from after school activities (meetings, sports, tutoring, community etc.)
How to access garage:
The keypad is situated on the laneway podium at the entrance of the garage.
Use first 5 digits of your child’s student ID code (not the 0 at the end) followed by B.
This keypad activation is scheduled daily from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM and for select events as needed (the upcoming Middle School Games Night for example).
After parking, do not walk on the ramp, but instead use the pedestrian entrance adjacent to the garage door. This will lead you out to the laneway sidewalk so you can access the school the usual way through the front door.
We’d like to remind you that parking is limited with no guarantee of a spot, and ask that you respectfully use the parking only for The York School business.
SAVE THE DATE - MIDDLE SCHOOL GAMES NIGHT - JANUARY 31, 2019
Parents and students, come out for a fun-filled night of games, brought to you by the YPA.

Parents, if your busy scedules don’t allow you to be present for the entire event, please feel free to join us for the games rotation in the gym at 6:00 p.m. May the best team win!

P.S. We need a few volunteers to help with set up and clean up. If you can help, please contact Erin Iles & Cristina Sava from the YPA (email@example.com). Thank you.
GRADE 8 - TOKENS FOR CHANGE
SERVICE INITIATIVE - FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1st
Next Friday, February 1st, Grade 8 students will volunteer their time in support of Youth Without Shelter. This Non-Profit Organization supports homeless youth in the GTA. Their campaign Tokens for Change fundraises by asking commuters in TTC stations to donate change and TTC tokens to assist youth in gaining transportation to school and jobs. This connects to a Humanities unit where quality of life is the main theme.
CHALLENGE WEEK PARENTS NIGHT - MIDDLE SCHOOL
You are invited to attend the Middle School Challenge Week Parent Information Evening on Tuesday, February 5th from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at 1320 Yonge Street. Teachers and trip providers of the overnight excursions will be there to share details about preparation, activities, safety, transportation, and forms for your child's upcoming Challenge Week experience.
The information shared during this evening is important to the understanding of your child's excursion and there will be an opportunity to ask questions. For those parents that are unable to attend due to a conflict, the information will be shared after the event. If you have not done so already, please RSVP here by January 31st.
UPDATED OVERNIGHT EXCURSION BUS LOCATION
(For ICE Winter Camping Trip and Outers Winter Camping Trip)
In order to facilitate smooth busing drop offs and pick ups for our students, we are piloting a new busing location for our overnight excursions. The buses for the ICE Winter Camping (during the week of February 4th) and Outers Winter Camping (February 8-10th) will pick up and drop off at the Loblaws Parking Lot at 11 Redway Road. Please see maps below for further details and bus location.
WELLNESS WEEK - FEBRUARY 11th - 14th
At the York School, we value being well, especially during the colder months. In February, the school will be highlighting the importance of being well and balanced. There will be a week of activities planned. More details will be shared with students in homeroom. As well, there will be a sleep-in on Wednesday, February 13th during Wellness Week. Classes will start at 9:45 am. Middle School students who need early morning supervision can still arrive at their normal time and work in the Learning Commons.
