Extended Essay Days
Grade 12 students are coming to the end of their odyssey with the extended essay, a prime feature of the IB Diploma programme. Students would have chosen a subject last December, narrowed to a workable topic, and have been researching and writing over many months to come up with an academic paper of 3500 words. It all comes to an end tomorrow as students are to hand in the final draft. Cheer them on (quietly!).

Grade 11 Diploma Retreat on Monday, October 2nd
On Monday, October 2, 2017, The York School will be hosting its third annual Diploma Programme Retreat for all Grade 11 Diploma students. The purpose of this retreat is to devote a day to reflecting on the Diploma experience, including both the advantages it offers as well as some of the more challenging aspects students encounter.

Our incoming Diploma students will hear from both Grade 12 students and York School graduates, who will provide student perspectives on how best to thrive in the Diploma Programme. Along with subject teachers, they will speak about the transition from the MYP to the Diploma, and will discuss specific strategies to manage this transition with confidence.  Strategies relating to learning skills, effective time management, and managing stress will also be focal points for discussion. In addition, parents are invited to morning sessions so that they can be fully informed of the adventure ahead for their children.
