Senior School - October 20 / 2017

On Wednesday and Thursday, students in Middle and Senior School challenged themselves by writing the first Caribou Math Contest. There are 6 contests throughout the year; students set personal goals and strive for self-improvement through the year by challenging themselves to a series of math and logic problems.

If you missed the first one, there's still time to join in on the fun. The next contest takes place November 15 and 16. Email if you want to participate.

Student-Centred Interviews
We are excited to announce our first-ever Student-Centred Interviews, to which you and your child are invited to attend.  The interviews will take place on November 15th and 16th from 12:30 to 8:30 p.m.  You may sign up for interviews with each of your child’s teachers, including their advisor, using “Pick-a-Time” as of November 1st at 1 p.m.

This year, we are asking parents to bring their son or daughter with them so that everyone can be involved in the conversation about your child’s progress. To allow for the added voice, we have added 2 minutes onto each interview, such that interviews with teachers will be 7 minutes in length (except ICE teachers, who will meet with you for 14 minutes). We recommend that you book your child’s advisor last so that he or she can help you and your child to process what they’ve heard and create an overall plan for moving forward.

We anticipate the structure of each interview to proceed as follows:

  1. The teacher will ask the student to reflect on the year so far.
  2. The teacher will share his/her observations
  3. The parent will be invited to share observations and ask questions
  4. The teacher will summarize major conclusions and indicate next steps forward.

The emphasis throughout is to create a positive foundation for your child’s ongoing progress. We look forward to talking with you and your child on one of the two days of interviews.
