Highlights

Patterns, patterns, patterns! The students enjoyed making some really neat sound, colour, and size patterns using various objects and manipulatives. They extended and translated each other’s patterns for a bigger challenge.

In unit of inquiry, the students discussed conflict resolution strategies. We discussed the idea of “big” and “small” problems. “Big” problems are ones that need adult intervention and “small” problems are ones that the students are strong and wise enough to handle on their own. We used Kelso’s Conflict Wheel (below) to highlight different ways to diffuse conflict. Perhaps some of these strategies could be helpful at home.

Art & French

This has been a busy week in Art! At the beginning of the week, students used clay to create winter/holiday decorations. Also this week, the SKs read the book “Picture a Tree” by Barbara Reid and created their own trees using Model Magic to create texture.

In French, we have been practising our play, La petite poule rouge. In the next few weeks, the students will be filmed performing their play, therefore they will be practising the play quite a bit. Also, the students have been practising to sing the alphabet in French. L'alphabet
