SK - November 9 / 2017

Highlights

Have a wonderful and relaxing long weekend! We look forward to hearing about all of the children’s activities over the four days off.

This week we focussed on sharing our All About Me bags and the reasons why the children selected those particular items. They enjoyed listening to stories about their feelings and emotions. We were all excellent at filling each other’s “buckets” this week. The children had lovely comments to say to one another.

In literacy, students were excited to learn the correct formation of lower case letters. We are working hard on learning to sound out and write words independently. They are getting used to returning their reading books in the morning, and we enjoy listening to the children read their books with us at quiet reading time.

In math, we have started a new unit on patterning. Feel free to look around your house for things that have patterns and point them out. The children are having fun creating and extending patterns using a wide variety of materials.

In art, the SKs have been thinking about their relationships with their family. Students have discussed their favourite activities to do with their family and have created drawn symbols to represent those activities. The SKs will be using these symbols to create a coat of arms that represents their family.

In French, the students have been learning O Canada in French in honour of Remembrance Day. Please follow the link below for our national anthem in French.
