SK - December 21 /2017

Highlights

Ms. Julie, Mr. Pascal and Mrs. Morgan want to wish you and your family a safe and happy winter break. We look forward to seeing everyone in 2018!

In French, we have been speaking winter and the snow falling. We have started to sing new seasonal songs.

C'est l'hiver

La neige tombe

As part of the SK unit of relationships, the students have been learning more about feelings in our PSE classes. The students made their own “Feeling Friend” out of Model Magic and came up with a list of instructions as a group for how to take care of the feeling, representing that all feelings are valid and caring for feelings can help us foster healthy relationships. Please ask them about their “Feeling Friend”, which they will be bringing home this week.

Looking Ahead

On February 15, the students will be participating in Great Canadian Outdoor Day where we go skating for the afternoon at Ramsden Park. In preparation for this exciting excursion we ask that, if possible, your child try skating before the big day so they feel comfortable getting out there and participating. What a great winter holiday activity!

Reminders

The York Shop next Customer Service date for uniform exchanges and or returns is Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Junior School just outside the Junior School Shop. If you have any questions please email gbates@yorkschool.com.

Please make sure you are sending your children in appropriate clothing for cold, wet weather. We rarely ever stay inside, therefore making it essential that children come prepared to go outside every day. We ask that children have warm, waterproof boots that they can independently put on and take off and waterproof mitts/ gloves to endure the building and digging they are doing in the snow to keep their hands dry and warm.

We also ask that you remind your child to take off their outside boots before coming into the discovery zone (if you could also refrain from walking in the discovery zone with boots). The water on the floor from the melting snow results in wet, cold feet for the day if the children walk through it in their socks. We appreciate your support during this time of year.
