SK - March 1/ 2019

HIGHLIGHTS

A big thank you to Ms. Spencer and the volunteers who helped set-up our March Break Book Fair! The SKs had a great time exploring all of the books the fair had to offer!

Math

In Math, the SKs have been exploring both patterns in everyday life. This week they made patterns books that ranged from pictures of patterns to stories like “The four little monkeys…”.

On Wednesday, we explored what sound “looks” like during our sound vibration experiment. We played music through a speaker in a bowl and discussed what we saw happening, why we thought it was happening, and what we wondered about it. Ask the SKs about the taste test we did today. The SKs were all risk-takers as we tried foods that were sour, sweet, bitter, and salty.

PHE

In PHE, this week the SK’s have been having fun doing partner relays, playing “Cat and Mouse”, and “What time is it Mr. Wolf?” on the scooter boards.

French

In French, the students continued to explore the five senses in French. The students continued to sing songs and practise all of the vocabulary related to the senses.

Music

In Music, the SKs are doing a wonderful job practising their songs about the five senses. This week, we listened to a piece of music by Eric Satie called Gymnopedie. The SK students drew what they felt was happening in the music and filled in the sentence, Music is...

Art

This week in Art, the SKs practiced adding detail! Each student drew a piece of winter clothing with a thin Sharpie marker and filled their drawing with lines, shapes, and patterns. Students then painted only their drawing, not the background, to create a focal point.

Wednesday, March 6th will be Simcoe and McClung House Colour Accessory Day. This is a reward to Simcoe for bringing in the most donations for the New Circles Clothing Drive and to McClung for winning the 'Bring It' challenge. Students in those two houses can wear red and yellow accessories with their regular uniform.
