We had a fantastic week in SK!
We are busy getting ready for our Celebration of Learning taking place on March 29th at 9:15 AM in the cafeteria! Mark your calendars - we hope everyone will be able to make it.
We had a wonderful visit from Denise and her guide dog Ridley. We saw first hand what happens when a guide dog does not have its harness on! We also learned how people who are blind play sports using their sense of hearing. Ask the SKs what else they learned from Denise and Ridley!
The children are working hard on their independent writing skills in their journals, and on the variety of activities, we have been completing as part of our inquiry unit. They were very creative coming up with super senses for superheroes of their choice.
We are continuing inquiring into patterning in Math and are also working on number sense and numeration at the same time. The children are learning to read and recognize numbers in print. They are creating and solving addition and subtraction stories and building numbers using bead bars.
In French, the students have started to learn a new song called Bonhomme, Bonhomme. It is a song about a fellow who plays various instruments. The word “bonhomme” means fellow in French. In the video of the song, it features Bonhomme carnaval (The Carnival Fellow, the official mascot of the Quebec City Carnival) and we discussed the Carnival of Quebec and how it is the largest Winter Carnival in North America. Please follow the link to view the video. Bonhomme, Bonhomme
In Music, the SKs sang suggestions of how we could say goodbye to winter and hello to spring. The students then marched to the music of March of the Leprechauns. The SKs practised their songs for the Celebration of Learning concert and even practiced standing on the risers.
A gentle reminder that all student absences should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
As well, if your child arrives late, please have them sign in with Ms. Kate or reception.
