SK - May 3 / 2019

HIGHLIGHTS

Thank you for joining us yesterday. We hope you had a wonderful time at our Student-led conferences! The SKs were very excited and happy they had a chance to show off what they have been learning and doing at school!

We had a great time at the Treetop Village today! We saw the different treehouses that they had built and explored what we see, think, and wonder! When we came back to school we took a look at some tree houses all around the world.

This week we have been creating 3-D shapes using plasticine and toothpicks. The SKs loved creating them and showed a lot of perseverance as some of the shapes were very tricky. The SKs are continuing to work with the number 10 (i.e how to make 10, 10 pairs) to aid with addition.

French

In French, the students have practised our play, Boucles d’or et les trois ours, many times as the play will be filmed in the near future. The students have done a wonderful job saying their lines with expression and great pronunciation.

Music

In Music, the SKs transferred the rhythmic patterns they have been learning on sticks to the djembes (drums). The students were very focussed and brought a lot of energy to the Grandpal’s Day Assembly. Congratulations to all of the SKs on your fantastic singing.

PHE

In PHE this week, the SK’s started a skipping unit. They worked on the first stage of skipping by turning the rope with big arm circles, then stage 2 turning the rope before they jumped and then stage 3 continually jumping either forwards or backwards.

Art

This week in Art, the SKs decorated their building sculptures using tissue paper and wire. They are becoming more colourful! Next week students will add even more accessories to decorate their building from the future.

A gentle reminder that all student absences should be emailed to 1639attendance@yorkschool.com As well, if your child arrives late, please have them sign in with Ms. Kate or reception.
