SK - May 16 / 2019

We hope everyone has a fantastic long weekend!

We had a busy week this week despite it being only four days!

In math, we worked on identifying groups of 10’s and 1’s and representing two-digit numbers using place value materials. We looked at more houses from around the world and talked about climate. We worked on a top secret art project for Mr. Robertson’s new office at 1320. Our writing is taking off as we worked on more stories and books. We are also working at telling about stories in our own words including all the important events.

In the PHE, this week the SK students started a track and field unit. We worked on our running skills making sure to run on the balls of our feet, pumping our arms, high knees, looking directly ahead and running in a straight line.

Please continue to pack appropriately for the weather- splash pants, mitts etc. as the temperature is still not consistently warm. We also need extra clothes at school- socks, pants and underwear.

In French, the students were filmed performing the play, Boucles d’or et les trois ours. Please follow the link to view the play.

In Music, the SK students reviewed the hand signs and pitches for the notes so-mi-la. They each sang solo questions to the class with these notes and the class answered them with these notes. The SK students reviewed and sang the song The Nasty Spider.

This week in Art, the SKs looked at mandala designs. Each student was given a circular canvas and they created their own mandala using lines and shapes.

A gentle reminder that Before Care does NOT start until 7:30 AM.  There is no supervision before that time.
