Parent Compass Points Feedback Meetings Reminder
Our second and final Compass Points Feedback coffee morning will be taking place on Tuesday, March 6th @ 8:30 am. For parents who could not attend either coffee morning, we will include a summary in the FLASH.

We have officially wrapped up our Creative Expression unit. Each SK expressed their creativity using a medium of their choice - they worked very hard and it shows in their final products! We are now moving onto our unit How the World Works - Our Five Senses. This is a great opportunity for you to talk your child about our senses of smell, taste, touch, sight, and hearing.
In Math, we have finished learning the names and attributes of 2D and 3D shapes. Students will continue to explore shapes and demonstrate what they know in our production and construction centres.
This week in Art, students learned more about texture and began adding texture to a wood panel using glue and small wooden shapes.
In French, the students have started to be exposed the five senses in French. Among other things, the students have started to learn a song about these senses.
In Music, we have been using popsicle sticks to create our own rhythms. We then moved these patterns to the glockenspiels. We have also been creating actions and singing the song, Mail Myself to You.
Exciting Grade 5 Exhibition Student Action
Our Grade 5 students are currently engaging in an independent inquiry named the Exhibition. It showcases the skills and demonstrates the IB Learner Profiles attributes and attitudes that students have acquired through their time in the PYP. The Exhibition focuses on student action. As part of the student action of our exhibition some of the students would like to communicate to the parent community and share their action.
My name is Kaleigh and I am a Grade 5 student. As most of you know, in Grade 5 we do a big inquiry called Exhibition. If you have not heard of this, then here is a quick explanation. You get to pick an investigation under the category of your Unit of Inquiry. Our theme is How We Express Ourselves. We independently have to research about our topics and later on, we write a five paragraph essay about our matter. Now we are working on our action piece.
My topic is studying cultural food on New Years. For part of my action, I am making a recipe book of different cultures foods. And for my action I would like you to help me out. So please, if you have any recipes at home or know anyone who has yummy and delicious recipes that express a culture or who you are, please put them in the brown box that says “recipes” on the fireplace mantle in the Gathering Place. Also, feel free to give more than one recipe. Please give the recipes in by Friday, March 9th.
Finally, I will put all the recipes together and make my recipe book! When it is completed, it will be on display in the Gathering Place so you can flip through and take pictures of the recipes that you like and that your family will enjoy too!

Hello, my name is Hayden. I am in grade 5, and, as many of you know, we are in the middle of completing the Exhibition. We had to pick a topic, research it, have a primary resource, and finally take action to make a difference. My topic is protest music. For my action, I have made a short video of protest songs and what issues they are about. I would appreciate if you could take the time in your day to watch my video. I hope that you can learn something new about the music that you might listen to on an everyday basis. Thank you!
