SK - December 8 /2017

The students enjoyed reading Stone Soup and are so excited to create their own community soup filled with ingredients brought from their home. In partners, the students practised list-writing thinking of soup ingredients that they would like in their very own soup. Next time you go shopping, ask your child to help out with the list!

The children worked on a variety of hands on activities designed to help with building words accurately using their knowledge of letter sounds. They are being encouraged to sound out and write with more independence.

The students have been very busy learning new things about each other using tally charts, bar graphs and concrete graphs. So far our Data Management unit has proved to be an exciting one as the students have really taken to completing surveys about everyone’s likes and dislikes.

In Art, the students began creating a background for their Music Assembly. They used cold colours and many materials to create winter designs on paper plates. The students also finished their coat of arms which will be displayed in the art show.

Primary French Play

In French, we filmed our play, La petite poule rouge. Please follow the link below to view our play.

Looking Ahead

We look forward to seeing everyone at the JK/SK Winter Music Assembly on Dec. 13, 9:30 a.m.- 10:15 a.m. in the gym. The students have been practicing very hard in preparation.

On February 15, the students will be participating in Great Canadian Outdoor Day where we go skating for the afternoon at Ramsden Park. In preparation for this exciting excursion we ask that, if possible, your child try skating before the big day so they feel comfortable getting out there and participating. What a great winter holiday activity!
