SK - May 31 / 2019

Highlights

Math

In Math this week, we had fun exploring the concept of probability. The students played games and learned the vocabulary associated including likely, unlikely, probable, impossible, chance, and never. We also worked on number sense, practicing addition and subtraction, counting and writing numbers, colour by number and place value.

We also worked on identifying blends in words and did more story and journal writing. The children shared their knowledge of our unit on shelter around the world by drawing appropriate shelters based on climate. We will be wrapping up the unit by designing and making our own shelters.

Music

In Music, the SKs started a spelling song called, “I Can’t Spell Hippopotamus”. They have to sing back to me the spelling of 3 letter words after I sing the word. The students also played Rhythm Bingo and are very good at identifying rhythmic patterns.

French

In French, the students have been practising their numbers from twenty to fifty. The students have been doing this in order to practise the date, in particular with numbers from twenty to thirty. Please follow the link to view the song that is helping them practise those numbers.

Art

This week in Art, the SKs continued working on their ‘Bug’s Life’ art piece. They painted their wood panel and added detail to their insect sculptures. The clay insects were then glued onto their wood panel background.

Before Care Reminders

A gentle reminder that Before Care does NOT start until 7:30 AM.  There is no supervision before that time.
