A MESSAGE FROM CONOR JONES, HEAD OF SCHOOL

Dear York School Community,

As we head into Thanksgiving weekend, I extend my gratitude to our community for your help and support in our start to the year. Thank you particularly to the team members who gave of their expertise and extra time setting up the new school so it seemed like a seamless transition to our students. We are a fortunate community to have such talented and committed staff. 

In our first month of school, students and faculty have learned to navigate a new Middle and Senior School building while teaching and attending regular classes, engaging in co-curricular activities, and jumping into athletic commitments. We’ve gone on field trips and travelled north on overnight excursions. We’ve participated in leadership fairs, IB Diploma retreats, university sessions, our India Car Wash and the Athlete Institute. We’ve completed Terry Fox runs (I walked for Tim and Katie), an Amazing Race challenge, and shown our pride at spirit days and house challenges. Parents have attended curriculum nights, YPA coffee mornings and wellness sessions. We’ve hosted a CISAA symposium for coaches from across Canada. We have already hosted Admission events for hundreds of prospective families. This is only a snapshot of what has gone on at The York School.

My sincere gratitude and respect to our community for making this a fantastic start to the 2017/2018 school year.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM) 
The York School AGM will take place on October 25th, 2017 at 6:00 PM at 1320 Yonge Street. 

PARENT WELLNESS SESSION: "MEDITATION RELAXATION" WITH SARA MONCRIEFF OF 889

Led by 889 yoga, this session will provide a foundation to the benefits of taking some quiet relaxing time for yourself.  The facilitator will use guided imagery and breathing techniques to bring you to an enjoyable place of relaxation.

Monday, October 16, 2017 - Parent Session from 7:00 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.

OCTOBER UNIFORM CUSTOMER SERVICE DATES
Thursday, October 12 & 26 - 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Junior School
(basement level just outside the York Shop)

NEW HAIR ACCESSORIES HAVE ARRIVED! 
The York Shop Junior School location now has lovely hairbands with and without bows for the Junior, Middle and Senior School. Please email gbates@yorkschool.com if you are interested or if you would like anything left at reception for your child to pick up.

Friday Night Lights is back!

On Friday, October, 20th, come out and cheer on our Gladiators as they take on Greenwood College in our first Friday Night Lights of the year. Go Gladiators!
