MESSAGE FROM STRUAN ROBERTSON, HEAD OF SCHOOL
THE YORK SCHOOL AGM and BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING UPDATE
Thank you to all community members who attended The York School Annual General Meeting which took place virtually this past Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
Following the AGM, the Board of Directors met and received the annual presentation from Sarah Bauld, Director of University Counselling, on the success of the Class of ‘26 and upcoming trends that her team is monitoring for this year’s Grade 12s. The Board also received an update on the strategic campus plan and completion date for the Junior School renovation project.
Public Speaking and Debate Updates
Big news from the International Independent Schools Public Speaking Championships. Huge congratulations to Max B., who placed 1st in Canada and 2nd overall, qualifying for the World Championships in Shanghai this coming March! Congratulations as well to Myah Z., who reached the finals in Interpretive Reading and to Hailey U. for her great representation of The York School team!
In other debating news, out of approximately 50 teams of the best debaters in Ontario, the Grade 8 team of Claire and Holden and Grade 12 team of James and Morris both qualified to represent our province at the British Parliamentary National Championships in Vancouver at the end of November.

Athletics
Congratulations to the Storm X-Country teams this week. Our U10 to Varsity Teams all participated in CISAA championships. Huge shout-out to Selma N., who is a CISAA champion and will represent our school at OFSAA (provincial championships) on November 8 and 9 in Sudbury, Ontario!
Our U9 to U12 Soccer and Basketball teams finished their competitive seasons this week — way to go!
Our U13 to Varsity programs all enter the playoffs next week so look for exciting updates in next week’s communication.
Remember, our community Raptors Nights are coming up. Please take time to sign up for two amazing games.

This hands-on, interactive evening is dedicated to our 1965 Society members who made a gift last year of $2,500 or greater to York's Annual Fund. Guests will have the opportunity to see and experience firsthand what the Annual Fund allowed our students and teachers to achieve over the past year. This week we shared a video showcasing how York's Annual Fund donations enhance our students' experiences. Tuition covers our core operations and salaries, but the Annual Fund provides the extra programs and resources that make York extraordinary. Our goal this year is 100% parent participation, and while every gift counts—we invite families to consider joining our 1965 Society with a gift of $2,500 or more. We have recently updated the default privacy settings in YorkNet so that individual contact information, including cell numbers, addresses, and email addresses, is no longer accessible to other users. Protecting our community’s personal data is a top priority, and we are glad to share this security enhancement with you.
