It’s been an exciting week for York students with the completion of the 14th annual Pinewood Derby on Monday.

Next week is a short week and we will be closed for the Holiday break starting on Friday, December 20.
York’s Grade 9 ICE program Ottawa trip
York’s Grade 9 ICE program started their Ottawa trip with a visit to Parliament - as part of their curriculum to understand our national identity - and even had the chance to meet with the Prime Minister!

MIDDLE SCHOOL 14th Annual Pinewood Derby Race WINNERS
Our Grade 7 students unleashed their creativity on the track and raced their custom creations at the 14th Pinewood Derby! From sleek designs to speedy winners, every car had its own story.
Congratulations to the Pinewood Derby 2024 winner Jack B., who claimed victory with his design "Trump Elite." Best Overall Design went to Sofia R. for her melodious machine "Albums," and Reese R. snagged Overall People's Choice for her holiday-themed "North Pole Navigator."

Holiday Hoops and Social - Calling all alumni!
On Saturday, December 14, 2024 we will be hosting our first Holiday Hoops and Social. Come and play basketball, attend the social or come to both! Drinks and snacks will be provided at the social. We hope to see you there to catch up and ring in the holiday season.
ATHLETICS
TYS Athletics is winding down just before the holidays. For the first time ever, both the Varsity Girls Volleyball and Varsity Boys Basketball teams sit atop Division 1 in CISAA.
Our U13 and U14 teams are in full swing and our U12, U11 and U10 teams, along with our Varsity Ski Team, are excited to begin competing in the New Year!.
As the term ends, we are reminded to take a moment to reflect (something we should always practice) and remind ourselves about the “Gratitude” that sport and the Game of Life provides. Here is a short little video about the Science of Gratitude: Science of Gratitude
