MESSAGE FROM STRUAN ROBERTSON, HEAD OF SCHOOL
Congratulations to our Jazz Showcase musicians for a wonderful show on Monday evening at the Lula Lounge!
Congratulations to those students who competed in the Junior Provincial Public Speaking Competition, please see the speech update below.
Great to see so many families attend the Personal Project Showcase this week as well, congratulations to the Grade 10 students.
It was lovely to see so many families this week at the YPA Pancake Breakfasts at the JS - if you missed the chance to take a behind-the-scenes renovation tour, we will be offering the opportunity to see it on Friday, March 7 during drop off.
We’ve just launched our Junior School Donor Book Nook, a beautiful display that will honour our donors to More Great Spaces whose generosity is making the Junior School renovation a reality. Please visit this link to add your ‘book’ to the Book Nook.
March Break starts on Monday and classes will resume on Monday, March 24. Take a break from your screens, get outside and play and read, read, read!

YORK’S DONOR BOOK NOOK
We’re building more great spaces for our students today and tomorrow. Now is the time to support this important effort and add your ‘Book’ to our Book Nook.
The spine of each ‘book’ will be customizable, allowing you to include your family’s or child’s/children’s names, or a personal message.
Appearing in a prominent location on the main floor of the Junior School, our Book Nook will ensure that your family’s legacy of support endures for decades to come. The Book Nook will be made by a leading manufacturer of donor recognition signage using durable and high-end materials.
We invite all Junior School families to add their book, along with families whose children came through our Junior School and are now thriving in our Middle & Senior Schools.

Athletics
What a Winter Season! A season that culminated with our school’s best finish at an OFSAA Championship. Our Varsity Girls Volleyball team claimed “Silver” at the Single “A” girls Volleyball hosted by University of Toronto Schools. Huge congratulations to these girls who will leave a legacy at our school. Thank you to our Grade 12s who worked together to put this program on the map!
Congratulations, as well, goes to our Varsity Boys who advanced to the quarter-finals for the 3rd straight year, losing to eventual champion Windsor LaJeunesse and students - Camryn H and Bernard L. for dominating in the pool!
Prior to the pandemic, The York School had qualified for 2 provincial championships in its history, but since then has qualified for 16 OFSAA Championships, which is an amazing accomplishment:
3 Girls Varsity Volleyball
2 Varsity Skiing
4 Boys Varsity Basketball
1 Boys Varsity Volleyball
3 Varsity Swimming
1 Varsity Golf
1 Junior Varsity Track and Field
1 Varsity Badminton
1 Junior Varsity X-Country running
These highlights are only possible with the development happening throughout our school. This winter we celebrated championships in U14 Basketball and Varsity Curling and had multiple final four appearances. Our U12, U11, U10, and U9 teams are the foundation of TYS and they have a bright future. This winter our U12 girls volleyball won the CISAA final festival tournament!
None of this is possible without the dedication of our coaches and the support of our community! We have the best school on the planet. Take some time to rest, reflect and recharge for what is guaranteed to be an awesome spring athletic term.
GO TYS!
Mr.D
