MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF SCHOOL, STRUAN ROBERTSON
LOCKDOWN DRILL AND BRIGHTARROW

On Wednesday, October 9 the Junior School will hold a Lockdown drill at our 1639 Campus. While the students and staff rehearse the lockdown drill, the school will be testing our new emergency communication tool, BrightArrow. Junior School parents should expect to receive a TEST text Wednesday morning.

As always, we will follow up with a report following the test to the community.

DECLARATION OF MEMBERS OF THE CORPORATION

In preparation of the upcoming Annual General Meeting our records indicate we are still missing forms from certain families.

The York School is a corporation existing under the Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, 2010 (Ontario) (the “Corporation”). The by-laws of the Corporation provide that parents and legal guardians of a registered student at the School are Members of the Corporation subject to a maximum of two Members for each family with one or more registered students. Members are entitled to vote at Member meetings of the Corporation, including the annual general meeting which typically occurs in October of each year.

We have requested that you complete this form to identify and confirm the up to two Members for your family. We requested that you coordinate with all parents and legal guardians in your family to ensure that everyone agrees with the up to two Members you designate. Both Members that you designate are required to sign in to their respective YorkNet accounts to sign this form. The form will not be completed until both parties have signed.

Location of this form:

If you have any questions, or wish to change your designation at any time in the future, please contact Kimberley Benoit, Board Secretary at kbenoit@yorkschool.com.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.

TERRY FOX RUN FUNDRAISING EFFORTS

We are so proud of our ongoing efforts as a community to raise money for cancer research with our annual Terry Fox Run. Thank you all for your generosity as we were able to surpass our fundraising goal this year of $8000 with t-shirt sales, our JS ‘Toonies for Terry’ initiative and online donations. As a whole school we raised $10,943.10!

Thank you York for keeping Terry’s dream alive!

ATHLETICS

What an amazing week! We hosted over 126 athletes this past weekend at our first ever Olynyk Clinic with Coach Nurse. Absolutely awesome.

Huge success last week for our Middle School X-Country Squad with Olivia S placing first in the U14 Girls Division and Grant S finishing 2nd in the U14 boys Division at the HaverCrest meet.

Our Junior School athletes have repped our school with pride this week as our U11 soccer team travelled to Sterling Hall and U10 to Hillfield. Our U11 Girls Basketball team hosted a mini-meet at TYS!

The greatest feature of our athletic program is our kids. They always understand how impactful sport can be. Being a great teammate is absolutely massive and impacting those around you just adds to the sport experience!

Duke University’s Men’s Head Basketball Coach gets it. So simple:

Being a Great Teammate

Go TYS!
