Registration is now open for the Social Change and Youth Leadership Conference (SCYLC) presented by the University of Toronto’s Engineers Without Borders Chapter.

This year, our conference will be centered around UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15: Life on Land, focusing on the role of engineering in addressing global environmental challenges. The conference will feature keynote speakers, hands-on workshops, and a case competition where students will tackle real-world problems through engineering design. Their skills will be put to the test in a final competition where they will work in teams to develop and present an innovative solution to a panel of judges.

Here’s what students can expect from SCYLC:

  • Keynote speakers – Experts in sustainability, engineering, and global development will share their knowledge on pressing environmental issues.

  • Interactive workshops – Students will develop engineering skills through hands-on activities that address global challenges, including those related to land conservation and restoration.

  • Case competition – Teams will research and present innovative solutions to real-world issues, applying their new skills and knowledge.

  • University experience – Students will have the chance to explore University of Toronto’s St. George Campus, experience student life, and connect with peers.

Tickets Information:

Event Date: Saturday - Sunday, May 24 - 25, 2025
Location: St. George Campus, University of Toronto
Day Ticket ($75) – Access to both days of programming (Lunch provided on both days)
For schools offering the International Baccalaureate Program, the SCYLC is an incredible CAS experience, as students have the opportunity to think creatively, problem solve, and collaborate with other students.
