Orthopaedic Foundation is a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for any student considering a future career in the medical field. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to advancing research and education, and we have been working with students for over 20 years.

What is it?
The Manhattan Medical Immersion Camp is a week-long, one-of-a-kind, hands-on summer program that allows high school students to perform procedures on real cadavers under the tutelage of physicians from a variety of medical specialties (anesthesia, dermatology, orthopaedic surgery, vascular surgery, radiology, etc).

Students will learn to perform advanced procedures such as rotator cuff repairs and total knee replacements using the same equipment that physicians use, while practicing on cadavers that are not fully embalmed in formaldehyde. In other words, the specimens are more realistic than what even medical students would train with. They will also learn about the medical device industry. This will all be under the direct supervision of board-certified surgeons.

To our knowledge, this is the only program in the country, if not the world, that gives students this level of early exposure, and previous attendees have called it a life-changing experience.

Where is it?
The program is held at the Foundation’s BioSkills Lab in Midtown, Manhattan.

When is it?
Sunday, June 29 – Saturday, July 5, 2025

Additional Info
The application deadline is April 15. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
