Wharton High School Data Science Competition: Basketball Tournament Predictions

Wharton Sports Analytics and Business Initiative and Wharton Global Youth invite you to participate in the second annual Wharton High School Data Science Competition.

Using team-level box score data from an entire regular season of women’s college basketball, teams of high school students will determine rankings and predict winning percentages for postseason play. Get ready to bring your data science game to the court! Registration closes on January 31. Click HERE to register. 

Key Details:

  • Free and open to all current high school students (ages 14–18)

  • Teams must be comprised of 3-5 students from the same school + 1 advisor

  • Analyze team-level data to rank teams and predict winning percentages

  • Data will be released on February 3, 9:00am EST

  • Virtual Finals will be held on April 9, 3:00pm EST
