  • Co-Curricular Staggered Start Discontinued: Upon reflection after the first 2 weeks of Spring co-curricular, we have chosen to discontinue our staggered start and return to having all of our co-curricular programming clubs & athletics begin at 3:30pm and run until 4:30pm. Thank you for your flexibility in working with us to make our co-curricular dismissal run smoothly. 

    • On Monday, April 14 all JK-Gr. 2 Primary and Gr. 3-5 Junior Clubs & Athletics will run from 3:30pm - 4:30pm

    • Pick Up 4:30pm - 4:50pm Kinder and Yonge Street Doors Only (No Glen Elm Drive Pick up)

    • ***Act 1 Friday Pick Up is @ 4:45pm Yonge Street Door Only

  • Allergy Alternative Lunch Menu: We will be sharing our full Allergy Alternative Lunch Menu next week to better inform families about the different options being served to students with gluten free, dairy free or the other allergies and food sensitivities.

York’s 2025 Grandpals and Special Friends Day

We are excited to host York’s 2025 Grandpals and Special Friends Day at our Junior School Campus. This annual celebration acknowledges the important and unique role that extended family and friends play in the lives of our youngest learners by inviting grandparents and other friends or family members to join us for some learning and fun.

Please register on behalf of the Grandpals and Special Friends that will be joining your children for this event, or forward this message so they can register themselves. Due to capacity restrictions, we can only accommodate two guests per student. If you have more than one child attending York’s Junior School you will need to register for each applicable session. 

We are hopeful that each student has at least one Grandpal or Special Friend to join them at their session so that nobody feels left out.

JS SPRING RECESS EVENT on Friday, April 25 - PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

*Please share your availability by Sunday, April 13* 

We're celebrating Spring with our final YPA Recess Event in the JS playground on Friday, April 25!! regardless of the weather. Volunteers will run simple games and a snack station. This event will take place exclusively outside, regardless of weather.

Please share your availability on this Google Form by Sunday, April 13 and look for an email by Monday, April 14 as it is possible that interested volunteers will outnumber available spaces.

PRIDE WEEK & INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PINK & CELEBRATIONS April 8 - April 11

Our PRIDE/ International Day of Pink Assembly yesterday was a joyous celebration of the inclusive and caring school community we are all a part of here at York. The assembly culminated with a spontaneous heart felt sing-a-long of Cyndi Lauper’s classic True Colours. Not unlike the colours of the rainbow, we want everyone to share their ‘true colours’ with the world and live out loud as their authentic selves. We are all different and we are all wonderful.

GRADE 5 GRAD SWEATSHIRT ORDERING

Each year, the Grade 5 class has been invited to purchase a special sweatshirt featuring their graduating year from the Junior School and the names of all their classmates. Please remember that the purchase of this keepsake is completely optional. The student vote is in and the winning design out of 20 different submissions has been selected.

The sweatshirt will be a black cotton hoodie with the small York School logo on the front left side and on the back will be the student selected design with their names.

  • The school has confirmed that the sweatshirt will be able to be worn as a uniform piece in Middle School. (Tip: It might be best to size up for wear next year!) 

  • The cost of these sweatshirts will range between $50 - $75 and will be charged to student accounts. We will not have an exact price from the vendor until the artwork of the final design is created. We will update families on the exact price once we receive a quote.

The Gr. 5 Grad Sweatshirt Order Form 2025 will need to be completed by Friday, April 25 at 5:00pm to purchase a sweatshirt for your child. We are hoping to place the full order with the vendor by Thursday, May 1 to be sure that the sweatshirts arrive in time for the Grade 5 Celebration.

EARTH DAY & JUNIOR SCHOOL ECO WEEK - APRIL 22 - APRIL 25

Our Eco Week and Earth Day initiatives raise awareness about how we can all be more environmentally friendly and protect our planet. 

Please note that there are 2 casual days this week. 

  • Tues. April 22 EARTH DAY CASUAL - Wear green & blue clothing and accessories to represent the planet we call home and to remind us all that we are caretakers of the Earth. 

  • Friday, April 25 - 5th HOUSE MEETING Wear house colours for our Eco Week House Meetings.
