WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Allergy Alternative Lunch Menu: You can find here (pdf version for quick print) of our Spring 2025 Lunch Menu including allergy alternative options being served to students with gluten free, dairy free or the other allergies and food sensitivities.

  • JS Lice Check and Policies:
Please see Lice email from March 31.
Please note: School wide lice check April 29, 2025
If your child has lice (at any point during the school year) Please:

1. Let Nurse Shana know sbrandes@yorkschool.com

2. Please keep your child home until they have an initial treatment. This means they need their head treated and combed out until no more nits/lice are found. This can be done at home by parents/caregivers or with the assistance of a lice company.

3. Please continue to comb out your child's hair every few days until there is no sign of any nits/lice.

4. Please send your child to school with their hair up or in braids if they have long hair.

5. If a case is reported to the nurse, she will send out communication to the entire Grade.

  • Learning Celebration – April 24: We are so excited to welcome you to our Grades 1–4 Learning Celebration on Thursday, April 24, at the Junior School. This is a free-flowing, drop-in event that is self-guided by your child—They’ll lead you through their learning journey and share highlights from the term. While you’re welcome to stay for as long as you’d like, for scheduling purposes, we suggest planning for about 30 minutes to explore the learning with your child.

  • If you would like to pick your child up between 3:15pm – 3:45pm for a quick walk or break before the celebration begins, you're welcome to do so using our regular dismissal procedure. At 3:45pm, the doors will open and you are welcome to come and meet your child to begin your celebration together—signage will be posted to help guide your way. The event will wrap up by 5:15pm.
If you have a child who is not participating in the Learning Celebration, please note that aftercare will run as usual.

York’s 2025 Grandpals and Special Friends Day

We are excited to host York’s 2025 Grandpals and Special Friends Day at our Junior School Campus. This annual celebration acknowledges the important and unique role that extended family and friends play in the lives of our youngest learners by inviting grandparents and other friends or family members to join us for some learning and fun.

Please register on behalf of the Grandpals and Special Friends that will be joining your children for this event, or forward this message so they can register themselves. Due to capacity restrictions, we can only accommodate two guests per student. If you have more than one child attending York’s Junior School you will need to register for each applicable session.

We are hopeful that each student has at least one Grandpal or Special Friend to join them at their session so that nobody feels left out.

We look forward to seeing a great turnout of Grandpals and Special Friends at this event. If you have any questions, please contact the Advancement Team at advancement@yorkschool.com.

GRADE 5 GRAD SWEATSHIRT ORDERING

Each year, the Grade 5 class has been invited to purchase a special sweatshirt featuring their graduating year from the Junior School and the names of all their classmates. Please remember that the purchase of this keepsake is completely optional. The student vote is in and the winning design out of 20 different submissions has been selected.

The sweatshirt will be a black cotton hoodie with the small York School logo on the front left side and on the back will be the student selected design with their names.

  • The school has confirmed that the sweatshirt will be able to be worn as a uniform piece in Middle School. (Tip: It might be best to size up for wear next year!)

  • The cost of these sweatshirts will range between $50 - $75 and will be charged to student accounts. We will not have an exact price from the vendor until the artwork of the final design is created. We will update families on the exact price once we receive a quote.

The Gr. 5 Grad Sweatshirt Order Form 2025 will need to be completed by Friday, April 25 at 5:00pm to purchase a sweatshirt for your child. We are hoping to place the full order with the vendor by Thursday, May 1 to be sure that the sweatshirts arrive in time for the Grade 5 Celebration.
