STUDENT LIFE & BELONGING
REMEMBRANCE DAY ASSEMBLY
Our Remembrance Day Assembly reflected on those who have served, and continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict and peace. The students learned first-hand from Sergeant Don Richard about the contributions of those currently in the armed forces and the importance of remembering the sacrifices of Canadian soldiers. The choir’s performance of the song, Child of Peace was a beautiful reminder that our thoughts are with all those affected by war and our hope is for peace.
WINTER CO-CURRICULAR PROGRAMMING (ATHLETICS & CLUBS)
Winter Clubs and Athletics start on Tuesday, November 14 and run until Friday, February 23.

FOREST OF READING
The Junior School Library is excited to announce that it has launched the 2024 Forest of Reading program! The Forest of Reading is a Canada-wide program that encourages children, teenagers, and adults to read the best of Canadian literature and vote for their favourite titles. You can find more information about the Forest here.
The Junior School will be reading through the Blue Spruce (Kindergarten to Gr. 2), Silver Birch Express (Gr. 3-4), and Silver Birch (Gr. 5-6) “trees”. Students are encouraged to read at least 5 titles from their respective trees to be eligible to vote and to track their reading progress by checking in with the teachers who support the program as book ambassadors. This year, Gr. 5 students who have read the minimum 5 books and voted will also have the opportunity to attend the Forest of Reading Festival down at the Harbourfront Centre in May!
Please note that while the various book lists have been carefully curated to suit the age and grade level by publishers and librarians, some titles deal with more mature themes. If you have any questions concerning the content, please feel free to contact Gemma Larcina.
