WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Church drive through update:
    Upon further following up with the church, we will now be able to use their parking for drop off and pick up during these times:

    • 7:55 - 8:30am (drop off)

    • 3:05 - 3:45pm (1st pick up)

    • 4:20 - 4:45pm (2nd pick up)

      This is available as long as we use it respectfully and follow the agreement with the church, which includes no parking for parents at any time.
      Thank you for helping us maintain the relationship with the church as this makes our pick up and drop off much easier.

    • Church parking is not available for families on those two days. Please find a green P parking in the area. 

    • Thursday, October 24 - 11:45am Dismissal (No lunch) - Conferences from 1:00pm - 8:00pm

    • Friday, October 25 - No Classes - Conferences from 8:00am - 4:00pm

    • Grade 1-5 students: Should attend the conferences

    • JK/SK students: Should NOT attend the conferences

    • Pick-a-Time is now open for families and will close on Wednesday, October 23 at 4:00pm.

    • There is no aftercare option on both Thursday and Friday, October 24 & 25

Our individual and class photo day has been rescheduled to Friday, October 18 Students should be dressed in the York branded clothing. The green polo or York athletic sweatshirt.

JUNIOR SCHOOL WINTER CO-CURRICULAR OFFERINGS (ATHLETICS & CLUBS) 

Our co-curricular programming provides students with a wide variety of team and club experiences. We continue to offer clubs led by external providers at a cost, as well as teacher-led clubs (free of charge) to extend student learning beyond the classroom.

Be sure to review the Terms & Conditions on page 3 of the Program Guide before proceeding with registration.

**All clubs including teacher-led clubs require re-enrollment for the winter term. 

Registration/official sign-up opens for all athletics/clubs through YorkNet on Friday, October 18 at 9:00am and will close on Wednesday, October 23 at 12:00pm. 

When registering, please be sure to review the days of the week for all offerings to avoid any conflicts between clubs and athletics or if your child has been invited to EXTENDED LEARNING/STUDENT SUPPORT IN LITERACY & MATH. Co-curricular registration is on a first come first served basis. Your child’s name will be automatically added to a waitlist should a club reach maximum enrolment. NOTE: If there is a high level of demand, new sections of clubs offered by external providers may be opened and those on the waiting list will be contacted.

HOW TO REGISTER ON YORKNET FOR JS WINTER CO-CURRICULAR PROGRAMMING 2024 (ATHLETICS & CLUBS)

At 9:00am on Friday, October 18, the registration message will change on YorkNet from “The registration for this event is currently unavailable" to "Register Now". At that time, you can Click on "Register Now".

You will be asked to register one child at a time. If you have more than one child to register, click 'Register Again' at the end of the process, and submit your next child's name and grade.

Registration will close at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, October 23. All winter clubs and athletic practices will begin on Monday, November 4 from 3:30pm - 4:30pm and run for 13 weeks (10 classes in total with holidays) until Friday, February 21.

YORK SCARES HUNGER FOOD DRIVE OCTOBER 21 - NOVEMBER 1

WHO: The York School JK-5

WHAT: A food drive collecting canned and nonperishable food items for the Daily Bread Food Bank and/or making a monetary donation to the Children’s Breakfast Clubs Charity which serves 5000 hot meals a week to elementary students in the GTA experiencing food insecurity. This service campaign is also a House Challenge in the Junior School.

WHEN: Starts on Monday, October 21 and ends on Friday, November 1

WHERE: Students are asked to put their food donations for the Daily Bread Food Bank in their coloured house box located in the Gathering Place or make a donation online at Children’s Breakfast Clubs Charity.

WHY: To work together to end hunger in our communities and help our neighbours who need it most!

YEARBOOK COVER DESIGN CONTEST

All Junior School students are invited to participate in our annual Yearbook Cover Design Contest. Students can draw anything that represents The York School. 

Drawings should be submitted in a portrait format on 8 1/2 “ x 11” blank paper. 

  • Use colour pencils and watercolours to create your work of art. 

  • A fine line pilot pen for outlining is strongly recommended as is using lots of colour.

Students can hand in their work directly or if they choose to create a digital design on the computer please email your child’s work to their Homeroom Teacher. Students can enter as many pictures as they like and can work with their siblings, a friend or on their own.
