Middle School - DECEMBER 21, 2023
Principal’s message
In my reflections of 2023, there were both celebrations and challenges. At the York School, we recognize that challenges are part of the growth process. This past term, our students are celebrated for their growth; such as, navigating friendships, managing the academic load, juggling co-curricular commitments. Behind the growth is a team of people; teachers, support staff, administrators who champion and cheerlead each student particularly with the challenges of living with sad world events. Thank you to our educators for their energy and commitment to creating spaces for learning and connection. It is these connections that support each person in meeting challenges.
Thank you parents for your ongong partnership in educating your child.
Wishing all students and their families a healthy, safe and restful winter break.
Sincerely,
Helen Gin
Middle School Principal

STUDENT LIFE & BELONGING
Welcome Back Spirit Assembly - Wednesday, January 10
We look forward to welcoming back your students and our staff for our first assembly of 2024! This will be a house-colours dress down.
Students can look forward to an interactive assembly with a special guest host, winter spirit week results and an overall house standings update! We hope everyone has a safe, healthy and restful holiday!
Sunnybrook Hospital Pediatric, Family Practice and NICU Book Drive - January 8 to 19
As we head into the holiday season, you may be gifted some new children’s books and may be looking for a place to donate old ones, or some books that weren’t that loved... well look no further!
After the Winter Break, there will be a book drive in which all books go to the Sunnybrook Hospital Pediatric, Family Practice and NIC Units! Please note that we are looking for books that would be appropriate for ages 1 - 12 in gently used or new condition.
For every book donated, students will also earn house points. Students can donate books into their House coloured box in the cafeteria and Middle School commons to earn house points.
Thank you to Charlotte Y, ‘25, for creating this initiative and for the York School community’s support!
