Outdoor recess will always be offered unless the temperature drops to -20 C. Students should be properly dressed for outdoor weather with a jacket, hat, etc.
Students should bring indoor shoes to avoid tracking wet boots through the school halls

February 12 & 13, 2025 - Virtual Student-Centred Conferences
Student-Centred Conferences are scheduled for February 12 from 1:00pm - 8:30pm and February 13 from 8:30am - 4:00pm.
On February 12 students will follow a compressed schedule and be dismissed by 11:40am.
Please note that there is no supervision or classes for students on the afternoon of February 12 and all day on February 13. There will also be no lunch service (only grab and go items will be available), athletic practices, or co-curricular activities.

Final Week: Beverley School Winter Outreach Campaign - Until January 31
Our winter student-initiated fundraiser for the Beverley school is in its final week!
If you haven’t already, please check out this special video message about Beverley.
Middle school families are supporting the purchase of a new accessible swing for Beverley’s playground.
Senior school families are supporting a menu of items to support student needs and enrichment at Beverley.
Donations can be made using this google form.
We have currently raised $2090 and are hoping to meet our goal of $2500! Thank you to all the students, families and staff who have supported this campaign! We look forward to making a real positive impact on the Beverley school community.

Wellness Week 2025 - January 28 - January 31
Next week, our student leaders from the Wellbeing committee have planned a week of casual dress theme days, activities and an assembly to highlight strategies that promote Balance in our lives.
Students and staff are encouraged to participate and reflect on the different ways that sleep, relationships, health and hobbies all contribute to the balance of our lives!

Lunar New Year Festival - February 4
Our Asian Student Alliance, parent volunteers and Ms. Zhao’s Mandarin students are looking forward to celebrating the Lunar New Year with our community with a lunch-hour festival on Tuesday, February 4. Calligraphy, Boba tea, red envelopes and more will help us to celebrate the Year of the Snake! Students and staff will also be encouraged to dress in red or their own cultural attire to celebrate this day.

Black History Month - February
Our Belonging & Outreach student leaders are looking forward to celebrating Black History Month throughout the month of February. Weekly spotlights on York’s live morning show will focus on the theme of Black Resistance throughout Canadian history and on February 19, we will welcome Britta Badour, award-winning author, poet and educator to speak at our assembly.

Friday Night Lights - February 7
Join us on Friday, February 7 as our Varsity Girls’ Volleyball and Varsity Boys’ Basketball teams take on Malvern Collegiate! There will also be York’s very own DJ Jonny Flow spinning tunes in between plays as well as a food truck on site. This is the Do Not Miss event of Term 2!

On Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm our Student Life & Belonging Team and Middle School Student Council are excited for Middle School Dance and Games Night! The theme is Wild West. Please feel free to dress in any clothing from your closet that allows for comfortable dancing and game playing!
There will be a photobooth, candy bar, DJ, dancing, games and more!
This is an optional after school event open to all Middle School students and requires a parental RSVP for participation. Please RSVP using this GOOGLE FORM. RSVP is due by Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
