Reporting Dates for 2024-2025
Dressing for the Cold Weather - Reminder
As the cooler weather arrives we remind students about suitable clothing i.e. jackets, hats, gloves/mitts, and footwear for outdoor recess.
Students are encouraged to keep a pair of indoor shoes at school, either black dress shoes or running shoes. Students are not permitted to Uggs or boots to class.

Thursday, November 21, 7:00pm - The York School Live & In Concert Music Night
Students participating in co-curricular ensembles: concert band, jazz bands, and choir will be featured from the Middle School.
November/December - Upcoming Optional Lunch Outs
Grade 6’s will have their first Lunch Out on Thursday, November 21.
Grade 7’s have a Lunch Out on Wednesday, November, 27 & Thursday, December 12.
Homeroom teachers will review the boundaries and rules with students.
Grade 8 Students will continue to have an optional Lunch Out on Fridays.
November 28 to 30, 2024 - Middle and Senior School Play, Cinderella
November 28 & 29 at 7:00pm and November 30 at 2:00pm.

Middle School Homeroom will start at 9:30am.
Students are permitted into the building starting at 9:15am via the laneway or the front door of 1320 Yonge Street.
Students who arrive early are permitted to read /work in the library commons.
Wednesday, December 4, 2024 - TPH Vaccination Clinic
Toronto Public Health (TPH) will be hosting a School Immunization Program clinic at The York School on Wednesday, December 4. The clinic will offer hepatitis b, human papillomavirus (HPV), and meningococcal vaccines to Grade 7 students.
Parents have to complete the consent form for their child to participate.
If you wish to have your child vaccinated outside of school, TPH holds routine vaccination clinics around the city. For more information please visit this site.

Our Wellbeing Student Leadership Committee has planned a series of community events for Wednesdays in November. Students and staff can look forward to connecting with one another as a way to engage in positive mental health strategies during the following dates and times:
Sticky Notes and Quotes @ Lunch in the Library/Learning Commons - November 20
Snowflake Creation from 8:10am - 8:50am in the Library/Learning Commons - November 27
Sleep-in & York Spirit or Athletic Casual Dress Day - December 4
Middle School Homeroom starts at 9:30am
Senior School starts at 9:55am

As we move toward the grey skies of November, the student life leaders are looking for ways to keep spirit going at York. In addition to the Wellbeing Student Leadership Committee activities mentioned above, the following initiatives have been planned for our community:

December 4 - First Home Game - Varsity Basketball vs. Crestwood @ 4:00pm *York Athletic or Spirit Casual Dress Day*

ICE Winter Camping Parents Night - Wednesday November 27 at 6:00pm
All Grade 9 parents are invited to attend an ICE Winter Camping Parent Information Night on Wednesday November 27 at 6:00pm in the Library at 1320 Yonge St. Ms. Lossing, Ms. Gardner, and Mr. Matt Peters from ALIVE Outdoors, will be present to review all aspects of the upcoming Grade 9 ICE Winter Camping trip with parents. We will review the details of the excursion, explain preparation and packing, and answer any questions. Students are also welcome to attend. Grade 9 parents are asked to RSVP here by Monday, November 25.
