The Learning Lounge (aka Homework Club)

  • Ms. McCuaig and Ms. Rhemtulla have started "The Learning Lounge" on Mondays from 3:30pm - 4:00pm and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 4:15pm.

  • Anyone is welcome to come and get questions answered, get help with any subject or work in a quiet space to complete homework with teacher support. Students can stay for as much or as little time as they want.

  • Ms. Barnes will talk with Grade 8’s about high school experience.

Upcoming Optional Lunch Outs 

  • Grade 6s will have their first lunch out on Thursday, November 21.

  • The next optional Grade 7 Lunch out is on Wednesday, November, 27.

  • Homeroom teachers will review the boundaries and rules with students

  • Grade 8 Students will continue to have an optional lunch out on Fridays 

November 28 to 30, 2024 - Middle and Senior School Play, Cinderella

  • November 28 & 29 at 7:00pm and November 30 at 2:00pm

  • The online box office will be open for tickets mid-November.

STUDENT LIFE AND BELONGING

COMMUNITY CLEAN UP - WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6 @ LUNCH

Our Eco Committee has planned a community clean up of the Reservoir on Wednesday, November 6. Students who wish to participate can earn service hours while helping keep our surrounding neighbourhood clean! 

Students have been asked to use the google form that has been emailed out to them to sign up so we can assign staff supervision accordingly. Garbage bags and gloves will be provided, students should bring their lunch with them and dress appropriately for the weather.

Please note, students will meet at 11:30am at Reception to walk to the Reservoir as a group and will return to York at 1:00pm.

WINTER CO-CURRICULAR SCHEDULE

Our Winter Athletics season will begin on Monday, November 4. 

Clubs and Committee meetings and Service placements will remain the same until January.

WELLBEING WEDNESDAYS

Our Wellbeing Student Leadership Committee has planned a series of community events for Wednesdays in November. Students and staff can look forward to connecting with one another as a way to engage in one positive mental health strategy during the following times:

  • Slime making @ Lunch in the Cafeteria - November 6

  • Hot chocolate from 8:10am - 8:50am in the Cafeteria - November 13

  • Sticky Notes and Quotes @ Lunch in the Library/Learning Commons - November 20

  • Student Sleep-in! - Dec 4

    • Middle School Homeroom starts at 9:30am

    • Senior School starts at 9:55am

Save the date- YPA Middle School Movie Night

The York Parents Association and Student Life are excited to have our annual YPA Middle School Movie Night on Wednesday November 6 from 4:00pm - 6:00pm at 1320 Yonge Street. The students voted, and we will be showing Despicable Me 4.

This is an optional after school event open to all Middle School students and requires a parental RSVP for participation. Students in each grade will have the opportunity to watch a movie and relax together in one of two spaces.

A pizza dinner (from an outside pizza provider) and snacks will be provided by the YPA (York Parents Association). Students are asked to bring their own water bottles, and are invited to bring their sleeping bags and pillows from home in order to make their viewing experience more comfortable :) Students who attend will be dismissed from school after the MS Movie Night at 6:00pm - 6:15pm.

This Parental RSVP is due back by Monday, November 4 at 4:00pm and is required as consent for students to participate. RSVP HERE BY MONDAY NOVEMBER 4, 2024
