SENIOR SCHOOL - DECEMBER 21, 2023

Principal’s message

Dear Parents,

This fall term has been made memorable by both the challenges and the responses. Although heart-wrenching world news has once again taken the spotlight, it is our students’ resilience and hopefulness that make being part of this community so special. Students and staff have worked together to ensure that our school continues to be an open, inclusive, and vibrant gathering place for all. In so doing, they have laid the foundation for an engaging and meaningful education.

My wish for you is that you and your children find time to rediscover the deep and lasting values that hold us together and, mindful of the many candles that mark this season, you continue to fan the flame of hope to guide us into the new year.

With gratitude for all your support,

David Hamilton
Senior School Principal

STUDENT LIFE & BELONGING

Welcome Back Spirit Assembly - Wednesday, January 10

We look forward to welcoming back your students and our staff for our first assembly of 2024! This will be a house-colours dress down.

Students can look forward to an interactive assembly with a special guest host, winter spirit week results and an overall house standings update! We hope everyone has a safe, healthy and restful holiday!

Sunnybrook Hospital Pediatric, Family Practice and NICU Book Drive - January 8 to 19

As we head into the holiday season, you may be gifted some new children’s books and may be looking for a place to donate old ones, or some books that weren’t that loved... well look no further!

After the Winter Break, there will be a book drive in which all books go to the Sunnybrook Hospital Pediatric, Family Practice and NIC Units! Please note that we are looking for books that would be appropriate for ages 1 - 12 in gently used or new condition.

For every book donated, students will also earn house points. Students can donate books into their House coloured box in the cafeteria and Middle School commons to earn house points.

Thank you to Charlotte Y, ‘25, for creating this initiative and for the York School community’s support!
